Preliminary Task Evaluation Questions

1. Our original idea was to have a short arguement between two people in a darkened room focusing on the shot techniques we had learnt in class. I was the director and had to organise my group and make sure it was filmed correctly. As well as this I had to tell the two other members of my group at the time when to say a line and other directions. I don't believe this would change if we were to work together again due to the fact this set up was effective for the three of us as they fufilled a key role, and I used my natural leadership well in the situation

2.
The production paperwork was helpful as it gave the group members, including myself, a guidance to what we needed to do to have an effective prelimenary task. I found the production call sheet the most useful and effective for organising us as it was the sheet we relied on the most. It enabled us to have a clear understanding of what we were aiming to achieve. The piece of production work that could require more depth for our film opening would be the production call sheet too. This is because I feel that the more detailed this specific type of production paper is the better production we will achieve.

3.
Our idea evolved through group discussion. It was Smita's idea to include a knife passed between the two characters of the short prelimenary task to highlight our understanding of match on action and it was Nisha's idea to make the conversation between the two characters more of a arguement.  I then directed both Nisha and Smita to think of a situation that would best reflect the feelings of the two characters in order to make the task seem as realistic as possible. This changed the idea slightly as it made us need to change the tone of the task, such as dim lighting and emphasis on the door slamming.

4. The camera was the main focus for my part in the task as I was responsible for the filming. I had to think of how the task would look once edited during filming as well as the continuity. I had to make sure that if I was filming the same shot twice, one for general conversation and one for close ups to add emphasis, that the lighting and placing of objects in the background were the same. If I had to change anything in terms of techinical ability I'd make the spaces in between takes longer to ensure there was a easier succession between shots. The only problem we had was the lighting at the very beginning as it was shot in different lighting and we didn't film it twice therefore in the editing process I had to use it for the task. However when it comes to the actual task I will have to make sure that everything is continuous and consistent.
